Worship Preparation: July 27, 2014

Worship Preparation – Sunday, July 27, 2014

1. Ways to use this worship preparation:
• Print it out Friday and place it in your bible for the weekend
• Use it as a family devotion and time of prayer on Saturday evening.

2. Read sermon text: 2 Corinthians 7:5-13

3. Read sermon summary: This week as we study this passage in 2 Corinthians we will focus on Godly sorrow, which leads to repentance. Paul gets word of a troubling situation in Corinth, which prompts him to write a letter calling for repentance. Now, in 2 Corinthians, Paul is describing the joy he feels over their response. He makes the connection between Godly sorrow and repentance, and talks about the fruit it has produced in the church. All of this is instructive for us, as we will be thinking about repentance and the fruit it produces in our own lives.

4. Consider the following song and its relationship to the sermon:

From The Inside Out
A thousand times I’ve failed
Still Your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
I’m caught in Your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing You praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
