Read the sermon text: Galatians 5:1-15

Read the sermon summary: What does it mean to be free? You may think of political freedom like the American ideal we celebrated a week ago on July 4th. You may think about personal freedom like when a teenager first gets access to the car keys. But what does it mean to be spiritually free? In the book of Galatians, Paul tells the church "for freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1). His warning to stand firm comes in light of false teachers who were teaching the Galatians that they needed to be justified by faith PLUS works. Throughout this passage, Paul explains how the church can avoid this slavery. This week, we will examine what God's Word tells us about spiritual freedom and how to live in it.

Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:

Your Grace Is Enough
Great is Your faithfulness O God
You wrestle with the sinner's restless heart
You lead us by still waters into mercy
And nothing can keep us apart

(So) remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise O God

Chorus 1
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Great is Your love and justice God of Jacob
You use the weak to lead the strong
You lead us in the song of Your salvation
And all Your people sing along

Chorus 2
Your grace is enough
Heaven reaches out to us
Your grace is enough for me
God I sing Your grace is enough
I'm covered in Your love
Your grace is enough for me for me
