Read the sermon text: Psalm 2

Read the sermon summary: This psalm has been described as a coronation song. As the nations of the world set themselves against the LORD and His Anointed, we are invited into the throne room of heaven to hear the LORD speak: “I have set My King on Zion.” The perspective shifts again as the LORD’s King recites the fixed decree: “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.” The authors of the New Testament regularly quote and allude to this magisterial Psalm. As the Apostle Paul observed, “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” But the resurrection of Jesus from the dead was a coronation ceremony, and He reigns unimpeded with all authority until the end. How should this inform the way we live our lives today? What things in your life cause you anxiety? What things send you into a rage? What things cause you to wonder, "Where is God,” or “What is God up to?" Let us look together by faith to our exalted King.

Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:

Behold Our God
Who has held the oceans in His hands
Who has numbered every grain of sand
Kings and nations tremble at His voice
All creation rises to rejoice

Chorus
Behold our God seated on His throne
Come let us adore Him
Behold our King nothing can compare
Come let us adore Him

Who has given counsel to the Lord
Who can question any of His words
Who can teach the One who knows all things
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds

Who has felt the nails upon His hands
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man
God eternal humbled to the grave
Jesus Savior risen now to reign

You will reign forever
(Let Your glory fill the earth)
You will reign forever
(Let Your glory fill)
