Read the sermon text: Acts 24:1-27

Read the sermon summary: The Apostle Paul has just narrowly escaped an attempt by the Jews to ambush and assassinate him. He is now on trial for his life before Governor Felix, the ruthless and immoral ruler of Judea. If anyone has a reason to be afraid, it is Paul. But according to our text, it is Felix, the man in charge, who "becomes terrified." What is it that frightens this powerful ruler? Why doesn't Paul seem to be afraid? What are we afraid of?

Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:

Promises
God of Abraham You're the God of covenant
Of faithful promises
Time and time again You have proven
You do just what You say

Though the storms may come
And the winds may blow
I'll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word
It will come to pass

Chorus
Great is Your faithfulness to me
Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me

God from age to age
Though the earth may pass away
Your word remains the same yeah
Your history can prove
There's nothing You can't do
You're faithful and true

I put my faith in Jesus
My anchor to the ground
My hope and firm foundation
He'll never let me down
