Worship Preparation: July 19, 2015

Sunday, July 19, 2015

1. Read the text: Genesis 20:1-18

2. Read the sermon summary: Abraham fails to believe God’s promise and puts Sarah and his future offspring at risk. Even so, God moves to protect Sarah in the midst of God fearing Gentiles and ultimately uses Abraham as a mediator and healer. Do you believe God’s promise to Abraham? How do our lives reflect our confidence in God’s promise to Abraham.

3. Consider the following song lyrics in relationship to the sermon:

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Saviour's love
Through the storm He is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

He is Lord Lord of all

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne
