Worship Preparation: July 6, 2014

Worship Preparation – Sunday, July 6, 2014

1. Ways to use this worship preparation:
• Print it out Friday and place it in your bible for the weekend
• Use it as a family devotion and time of prayer on Saturday evening.

2. Read sermon text: 1 Timothy 6:11-16

3. Read sermon summary: As Paul is beginning to close his letter, he is beginning to give Timothy some final encouragements. In these verses he commands him to flee from sin, and pursue godliness. Paul reminds Timothy that the fight is worth engaging. He does this by reminding Timothy of God's faithfulness and pointing him to Christ's return and the power of God. These are great reminders for us too as we fight for faithfulness and fight to remember the eternal in the midst of the temporal.

4. Lord’s Supper: We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper together this Sunday, as we do the first Sunday of each month. In preparation for this visible celebration of the gospel, please take advantage of this time to consider the state of your soul. Resolve conflicts that you have ignored, repent of sins that you have hidden, and take time to consider the great love of a Savior who has reconciled us to God by his death and resurrection.

5. Consider the following song and it’s relationship to the sermon:
This Is Our God
Your grace is enough
More than I need
At Your word I will believe
I wait for You
Draw near again
Let Your Spirit make me new

And I will fall at Your feet
I will fall at Your feet
And I will worship You here

Your presence in me
Jesus light the way
By the power of Your word
I am restored
I am redeemed
By Your Spirit I am free

Freely You gave it all for us
Surrendered Your life upon that cross
Great is the love poured out for all
This is our God
Lifted on high from death to life
Forever our God is glorified
Servant and King rescued the world
This is our God
