1. Read the text: Genesis 15:1-21

2. Read the sermon summary: God meets our uncertainties concerning his promises with assurances of his faithfulness. In Genesis 15 Abram responds to God’s promises with uncertainty. Will he really have a great reward if he doesn’t even have any children? How can he know for sure that he will possess the land? Like Abram, we are often tempted to doubt because of our present circumstances or simply because of our own weakness of faith. But we can trust God. In his patience he welcomes us to come to him in our weakness, acknowledging our uncertainties, and he assures us by the cross of Christ that he loves us and will be true to his word.
