Worship Preparation: May 17, 2015

"People ought to come to corporate worship services to get. They ought to come starved for God. They ought to come saying, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God” (Psalm 42:1). God is profoundly honored when people know that they will die of hunger and thirst unless they have God." John Piper

1. Read the text: Genesis 1-12

2. Read the sermon summary: Although man by his wickedness has corrupted God’s good creation, God faithfully preserved a “seed” through whom all the families of the earth will be blessed. The story of humankind is a story of struggle between two nations: one from the seed of the serpent and one from the seed of the woman. It is a struggle which reached its decisive conclusion only when the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, crushed the serpent’s head by his death on the cross for sinners and his resurrection from the dead.

3. Consider this song in relationship to the sermon: Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery

Preaching: Jim Upchurch
