Worship Preparation: May 31, 2015

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:3

Sunday, May 31, 2015

1. Read the text: Genesis 14:1-24

2. Read the sermon summary: In Genesis 14 God reveals himself as the Great King over all. He is the ruler of all kings and nations. He is the rescuer of the captives. And he is the rewarder of those who seek him. Abram and Melchizedek serve as types of Christ, the Rescuer of his people and Great High Priest by which we have peace with God.

3. Consider this song in relationship to the sermon:

You Alone Can Rescue
Who O Lord could save themselves
Their own soul could heal
Our shame was deeper than the sea
Your grace is deeper still

And You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

You O Lord have made a way
The great divide You healed
For when our hearts were far away
Your love went further still
Yes Your love goes further still

And You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise
To You alone belongs the highest praise
