Worship Preparation: November 11, 2012
Worship Preparation – Sunday, November 11, 2012
1. Ways to use this worship preparation:
Print it out Friday and place it in your bible for the weekend
Use it as a family devotion and time of prayer on Saturday evening.
2. Read sermon text: ESV – Zechariah. We will study the entire book.
3. Read sermon summary: The book of Zechariah is made up of visions, words, and oracles. The prophet uses several different methods of getting at the same message, which is a call to return to the Lord. That seems to be the resounding theme of the book. God wants us to return, and he lays out through these visions and words how that takes place. In the first 6 chapters we are to return through his conquering of all our enemies. In the next 2 chapters we are to return through his word, and in the last 6 chapters we are to return through his son, the Messiah. This book is full of Messianic prophecy, and clearly points to Christ as the one road to travel on this return to the Lord.
4. Consider the songs and their relationship to the sermon:
O Worship The King
You alone are the matchless King
To You alone be all majesty
Your glories and wonders
What tongue can recite
You breathe in the air
You shine in the light
O worship the King all glorious above
O gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise
O tell of His might O sing of His grace
Whose robe is the light and canopy space
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm
O measureless might ineffable love
While angels delight to worship above
Thy mercies how tender how firm to the end
Our Maker Defender Redeemer and Friend

Behold Our God
Who has held the oceans in His hand?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice
All creation rises to rejoice
Behold our God seated on His throne
Come let us adore Him
Behold our King, nothing can compare
Come let us adore Him!
Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of His words?
Who can teach the one who knows all things?
Who can fathom all his wondrous deeds?
Who has felt the nails upon His hands
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?
God eternal, humbled to the grave
Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign
You will reign forever! (Let Your glory fill the earth)
