Worship Preparation: November 17, 2013

Worship Preparation – Sunday, November 17, 2013

1. Ways to use this worship preparation:
• Print it out Friday and place it in your bible for the weekend
• Use it as a family devotion and time of prayer on Saturday evening.

2. Read sermon text: Read Genesis 12:10-20

3. Read sermon summary: Now that Abram has been introduced, the story will begin to narrow in on his life. In the first 11 chapters of Genesis we have been covering huge spans of time with each chapter, but now the pace will slow down significantly. The story becomes much more detailed, and we will have a chance to see Abram interacting with the world and with God. God will use this detailed view of Abram's life to reveal things about himself, and reveal things about our hearts, as well. What will stand out in this first story will be God's continued faithfulness even when his followers stumble, which should provide great encouragement to all of us.

4. Consider the songs and their relationship to the sermon:

Revelation Song
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is
And is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You

Worthy is the Lamb
Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song
To Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning
Rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor
Strength and glory
And power be to You
The only wise King

Filled with wonder
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power
Breath and living water
Such a marv'lous mystery yeah

Jennie Lee Riddle

How Great Is Your Faithfulness
Now unto the King who reigns over all
And never changes or turns
Unfailing justice unfading grace
Whose promises remain
Yes Your promises remain

The heavens ring
The saints all sing
Great is Your faithfulness
From age to age we will proclaim
Great is Your faithfulness
How great is Your faithfulness

Everything changes but You stay the same
Your Word and kingdom endure
We lean on the promise of all that You are
And trust forevermore
We will trust forevermore

From generation to generation
You never failed us O God
Yesterday and today and tomorrow
Until the day You return
